Warm Audio Foxy Tone Box Octave Fuzz Pedal

Foxy Tone Box is an octave fuzz pedal recreating a famously rare hexagonal purple original from the 1970s, producing a thick fuzz with an upper octave that sings when you play above the twelfth fret.

The new Foxy Tone Box from Warm Audio is a hyper-accurate recreation of one of the most sought-after and beloved fuzz pedals of all time – used in the early seventies by legendary tone masters Billy Gibbons and Peter Frampton, and in the present day by folks like Adrian Belew, Nine Inch Nails and Beck. Covered in thick velvet just like the vintage pedal, the Warm Audio Foxy Tone Box faithfully recreates the vintage circuit and brings you the huge tone, octave-up sounds and look of the original…without having to pay crazy vintage prices!

What Is Octave Fuzz?

Fuzz with an octave-up component generated by the circuit. The octave is most audible on single notes high on the neck, where it produces the singing, vocal quality the effect is known for. It gets messy on chords, which is part of the character.

How Do I Get the Octave to Come Out?

Play single notes above the twelfth fret with the neck pickup and the guitar volume up. The octave content depends heavily on where you play and how clean the signal into the pedal is.

Is This a Faithful Recreation?

Warm Audio built it from the original 1970s circuit rather than approximating it. Originals are rare enough that most players have only heard the effect on records.

Why Warm Audio

Warm Audio builds recreations of the classic studio hardware most engineers will never get to own, at a fraction of what the originals cost. The company sources premium components, CineMag and custom transformers, Fairchild-grade capacitors, NOS tubes where the design calls for them, and puts them into circuits copied closely from the originals rather than approximated. It has grown from microphones and preamps into compressors, EQs, direct boxes, guitar pedals and cable.
